Jeez that was hard work today. Strong head wind all the way to Laskill just to sap all the strength from your legs in time for the climbs.

Only JohnC and myself out today after Grant cancelled this morning.
A tough opening leg across to Ingleby Greenhow into the wind softened the legs before the climb up Ingleby Bank. We then dropped down in to Bilsdale where we were into the teeth of the wind. We shared the work along here but to be honest it was so windy that I am not sure it made much difference 😯 . My legs were complaining!
Once we hit Laskill the climbing started and we headed over to Hawnby and up the steep climb into the village. After a brief stop and we were back on the road to tackle the climbs over Snilesworth Moor, which looked splendid today with the heather in full bloom. The wind was now behind us but not that much help on the climbs as we made our way to Osmotherley. Another quick stop at the shop in the village and we were off again round Sheepwash.
Plunging down into Swainby, we picked up the speed a little through Potto and Hutton Rudby and back to the Fox Covert.
I really enjoyed the ride today and it was nice to get some good climbing in. Can feel it in my legs now as I sit and write this. JohnC rode well today, completing his longest road ride over a tough course.

A wise decision Grant if you weren’t 100%.

Crossing Middle Head this morning on the MTB Forum Ride, I certainly didn’t envy you guys on the road today. We did one hell of a lot of tough climbing also into the wind, but I’m pretty sure your ride was tougher than ours.
Hopefully I’ll get round to doing that route sometime next week, minus the wind I hope.

Certainly wouldn’t have fancied it on my own today. Think I would have bailed at Chop Gate and headed up Raisdale. There were points when we were heading to Laskill that I wish I had taken that option!

I think if I had been doing it on my own, in that wind, I probably would probably have lost heart at Chop Gate too, and opted for the Raisdale Road. 😆 😆

I really enjoyed this ride today, it was a tough slog to bilsdale though, the wind was a nightmare, there were some tough climbs in this one but i managed them fairly well i think 😳 , the scenery was fantastic aswell. Thanks to steve for organising this one, like you said an ideal route for sportive training.
my legs are feeling it now, especially after yesterdays 10.5 mile run also 😉
grant you missed a good one.
