    Proposing Aprils Forum Ride.

    Ride Date………..6th April……..Sunday

    Start Time ………0900

    Start Place………Clay Bank car park

Proposed route……It would be a start from Clay Bank car park, through the forest and up Jacksons Bank onto the Cleveland Way, then turning off South at Round Hill to head towards Tribsdale and then on across the Moor to Bransdale/Cockayne and climbing up to Rudland Rigg then onto Bloworth Crossing and coming down the Incline to follow the trail back round to the car park at Clay Bank.

I will post the distance up at a later date and try to get a map posted if I can.

This ride is very similiar to the March ride in terms of terrain crossed, path type and exposed riding conditions.

PLEASE NOTE, THERE ARE NO TOILET FACILITIES AT THIS CAR PARK!!

    Anybody game. 😉

As you head South on the Helmsley road from Stokesley, you will climb Clay Bank, the car park is at the very top, on the left. There is also a side road at the same place which leads down to Ingleby Greenhow.

I tried to post the mbr route that’s similar to this but looks like it’s not going to let me. It does go the other way round (clockwise), dropping into Cockayne from near Bloworth Crossing, climbing out on tarmac and dropping back to Tripsdale on a long fast double track descent.

The usual conditions apply for me (wife, son, work) and hopefully the car won’t let me down!!!

Will you have access to a helmet cam if you’re able to make it Denny, the ride down the Incline would certainly be worth watching on the small screen.

This is another great route, it would be a shame if you missed it 😉

I’m really going to try and get on this one…I’ll check my rota and see if can get the little fella looked after.

The helmet cam will more than likely be with me as I fancy “The Incline”. Just need to get the positioning right!!!

Hoping to make this my first official forum ride, may be bringing a chap from my site along as well, who I’ve not ridden with before but liked the look of the ride when I pointed him this way.

I’m conscious that I don’t want to hold anyone up though, so Paulb / Kaya / SeanO, having seen my efforts when we rode the woods a few weeks back, would I be OK on this ride or do I need to build my fitness more first? Feel free to be as blunt as needed 😉

    Chris,

Building your fitness will lead to better rides for yourself but don’t worry about having to keep up. A good group will always go as fast a their slowest member and, if the group is large enough, we could always split up and meet later. But I’ve found that I’ve improved most by getting out with people that drag me round, i.e. much fitter then me!

I’ve not been on a forum ride myself yet but they seem to be quite relaxed affairs. A fun, social event rather than a training session.

Chris, I forgot to mention that you weren’t that far behind me, so I wouldn’t worry! 🙂

Crispy, the Forum Rides are a quite relaxed affair, and the more riders on them the better as far as I am concerned, but I will not mince about, this is a fairly demanding route from the word go, with some quite steep climbs.

We are only as fast as our slowest member, and don’t forget that for all the climbing you do, you are rewarded with downhill, and improved fitness, that’s got to be a good thing in anybodys book.

    😉

Hope you feel you can make it for this ride 8)
