Any suggestions for a decent one.

At the moment I have a Saris Bones, good rack, but wont work with my new bike.

Ideally needs to be hatch mounted, but would fit a towbar to my car if its the only option.

Its likely to be carrying Spesh Enduro/SX Trail/Giant Reign type frames.

oh and thule or pendle do nice towbar mounted racks, I wouldn’t really trust a strap-on rack with kit of that value

I’m not sure about this, so correct me if I’m wrong…………

But, is there not some type of adaptor bar that would turn the frame into “regular triangle” for the purpose of transporting the bike by such a carrier……….. 😕 😕

I am sure that I have seen something like this, perhaps it may be cheaper than splashing out on a new rack………….. 😕 😕

    I’m not sure, ❓ ❓

Gunner, you are quite right, you can get a ‘false’ top tube that clamps to the steerer/stem and the seat post which allows you to use the bone with more unusual frame designs- here

As for not trusting them with valuable bikes, I have done plenty of long journeys with a Saris bones and 2 bikes worth about £5k combined on it at motorway speeds and it was as safe as houses, no movement from the rack or the bikes. It also adjusts to fit just about any car.
