Body Armour

Hi All,
I quite fancy getting some body armour. I’m not very quick, but I’m fat and I fall off quite a lot.
There are a couple of good deals on at the moment, particularly on the 661 Evo pressure suit, but I’m also wondering about the 661 comp and the Fox Titan. Any wise words would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
John

Some of the pressure suits are not very flattering and i’m not being funny, but the EVO 661 probably won’t fit. I’ve tried on a whole heap of suits/pads, it was really tricky to find one that was light and fit well. Unless you’re hitting DH tracks or really shifting, these suits are overkill for XC. Why not just try some elbow/knee pads?

It probably is overkill, have got elbow and knee pads, thought a back protector might encourage me to try a few bigger jumps.

You can buy just spine protectors. Nukeproof do one. That’s one i’ve not tried.
The best of the rest, i found the IXS hammer jacket to be very good

Fits better than the others, as i’ve a gut myself. It was just a bit too hardcore for me and i settled on the D3O kit from Bluegrass. (Still to wear it out 🙄 )

I wear one of these, but only for downhill.it`s a good fit,not too intrusive but on the push ups jeeeeez it makes you sweat,it`s like wearing a duvet under your shirt.i wouldn`t want to try doing xc with it.pressure suits would be even worse.this is a cracking price too,i paid full price for mine 😥

I quite like the look of the IXS. It seems to be mesh as well, which is bound to be cooler, I’m already wearing a duvet made of fat, so I don’t need another.
Cheers.

I’ve just returned the Sub Core that i thought would be a good idea for XC/AM. It’s like a compression layer. Once reminded how much i sweat cycling, i realised it was not a good purchase.
