HI there everyone, I am new to the forum and next a bit of advice.

I have just bought my two daughters their first proper bikes and would like to go riding with them. Unfortunately my getting older and stiff knees means my specialised centrum single speed is not as comfortable and easy to ride as it once was. Being a bit lazy I am going to buy a mountain bike from my local Halfords which is 5mins walk away.

My budget is a max £600. I do weights and weigh over 100kilos so was thinking the carrera titan dual suspension would be best. The titan x is better but out of budget. The vendetta has plus tyres which would make for a more cushioned ride?? But 2.8 tyres and inner tubes seem difficult to source. Would I be better off getting the top of the range fury, i like the 1×10 deore set up, and fitting wider tyres. Is that a good idea? Are all carrera mountain bike frames the same? What’s the best and widest tyres to fit? A lot of questions i know but i would really appreciate all your experiences and wise input.

    Thanks in advance

With a £600 spend I’d definitely recommend just getting a hardtail rather than a full suspension bike. The more you weigh, the worse a lower-end full suss will feel. And realistically, tyres are only ever going to have an absolutely minor impact on cushioning.
