I’m in Darlington and trying my best to get back out onto my mountain bike but agree that solo cycling ain’t fun. I’m more a relaxed XC/trail type (OK, trying to lose some early middle age spread!)…

I’ve been for a few visits to Hamsterley recently and am trying to get something more regular arranged. I’m within striking distance of both Hamsterley and also North York Moors so plenty of choice but currently looking to tag along to one of the rides listed on the forums (or on http://mtbnortheast.ning.com/)

Drop me an email / PM if you want to meet up at Hamsterley one weekend or have any ideas for Durham area.

    Cheers

Count me (and some mates) in!

A few of us usually ride hamsterley on thurday nights (when we are not ill 🙄 ) as well as attempting road rides on tuesdays (it’s been a while lads, again mostly because I have been ill 😳 ) and most Sundays – somewhere local.

The temptation recently has been to pick the better weather day between sat and sun and ride on that one (road or mtb).

Anyhoo – Let me know if that takes your (or anybody near Darlo / Aycliffe / Bishop’s) fancy and we’ll keep you up to date. The only requirement is that you want to ride for the fun of it / minor fitness and have a laugh rather than join the olympic cycling team 😀

    Hi Dagza

Definately up for some rides around the area – stuck with putting up a Christmas tree this weekend (boo!) but looking to get out to Hamsterley on a Sat/Sun. I haven’t discovered much around Darlington yet but still trying.

I definitely like the idea of riding for the fun of it – my fitness is lacking of late!

Keep me in the loop and let me know when you’re about and if you don’t mind I’ll tag along – I’ve got roof rack space for another bike if needed too.

    Cheers

    Hey,

Generally I ride around weardale/hamsterley, occassionally get over to the lakes and kielder. Usually get out regardless of the weather conditions (apart from high winds). Im from Wolsingham myself so right in the heart of weardale and a stones throw away from Hamsterley.

I ride for both fitness and fun and I appreciate that people tend to attack a route at a different speed, used to riding with people of all abilities. Just love getting out riding really.

At the moment Im tending to stick to local XC trails that I know as its not much fun trying a new route and having no idea where the hell your going but I am always up for trying new trails, got beyond hamsterley and done a few in there but Im always open for suggestions.

Im free most of next weekend so would be glad to set up a ride in Hamsterley as you suggest.

I’d be up for a Hamsterley blast next weekend… The shift fairy is in my favour and I’m allowed out to play after being caged in with the kids for the last three weekends 👿 Walking the dog round Guisbrough woods with three (not fast!) kids just doesn’t cut it!

Are the trailblazers not bothered about people tagging along for guided rides who aren’t members? I should be able to make both Saturday and Sunday, got some time off as well before Xmas so gonna get out Friday and Monday too.

Thats the whole point of them,to get people to meet others and show parts of the forest that are unmarked and sometimes hard to find.I,ve been on a few, been riding the forest for years and was shown stuff i didnt know was there,so well worth it.Its very relaxed atmosphere with the emphasis on enjoying it.
