I’m gutted – self confessed “don’t know much about bikes”.

Bought a Saracen Mantra 2, built it up quickly in semi darkness with help off a mate – after two rides noticed right pedal was loose, took it off today and the thread seems mashed, the thread on the “pedal shaft” (I imagine it might be called that), well that thread has disintegrated…

Definitely cross threading, and definitely my fault I guess???

Any advice on where to go from here, best to buy parts seperately or bring into a shop? Should I go to people I bought it off?

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

Take it back to the shop where you got it. You might be lucky and they may fix it for free.

Yeah, or failing that you could just try buying 2 new crank arms and fitting them to the chainset. That should be a fairly cheap option, I think the Truvativ Isoflow 3.0 chainset that’s fitted to the bike only retails at about £25 so the crank arms shouldn’t be too much 😉

crank arms – not “pedal shafts”, I’m gonna have to learn fast.

Cheers, I’ve jsut emailed the guys I bought it from, failing their generosity being forthcoming I’ll have to fork out more money I don’t have I suppose!
