I’m wondering is it common for mountain bikers to wear walking shoes when there not in to SBD’s.

Before I got my Vans I used to ride in some Salomon XA walking/trail shoes. They were fine apart from my toes getting cold in the winter – mesh is not great for insulation

    I wear Teva Links.

    5-10s are great too.

I wear a black pr of astro trainers, the rubber bullet grips are brilliant, rarely do my feet slip off.

Walking shoes for me at the moment.

This is my pair of cheapo Karrimor…

They do a good job, but my pedal studs do chew up the soles!

Very occasionally I’ll wear walking boots. If I plan on doing a lot of walking. But only then. They’re horrible for riding in.

Others may be OK, but that’s my experience. Usually wear skate shoes.

They look good Rampant. I might have to go try a pair. The Converse look a bit to young for me being 32.

At the moment I’m wearing Asics which is not good as there not cheap and don’t really hold up to pedals and constant drenching with mud.

Skate pumps work best for flat IMO. I’ve been wearing old Duffs and never once even been close to coming off the pedal. When drunk and surfing the net the other night though, i succumb to ordering a pair of Five Tens to see what the fuss is about. I think you’re just paying for the name though.
