I Recon ill need some decent trainers & clothing but not sure what else.

I think the only things you are missing is a helmet, along with a puncture repair kit & nessesary tools, otherwise your pretty much there 🙂
Once you start riding the bike & maybe getting more into it you could start looking round shops for upgrades such as SPD’s and the like, but for now the list you mentioned seems fine.

A cumfy pair of chamois-padded shorts to make sure that your botty will not hate you! 😀

Ageed with Steve padded shorts are an 100% must. I personally dont bother with a pump or patches when out on a ride, I take 2 spare tubes and a co2 inflater with a couple of cartridges (I ant got time to patch tubes I am usually at the back anyway)

To reciprocate, agree with BMR about CO2 pumps. An absolute gem when you want to inflate a tyre in about 1 second! 😛 I usually carry between 4 and 6 cartridges. This is a great way to carry a couple, but mount it inverted, so the carts are on top – saves them vibrating loose!

Comes from being a lazy ol’ barstid who doesn’t want to pump away for about 300 strokes and would rather just open a CO2 valve and let compressed gas do the hard work!

The other good thing about the way you’ve mounted that Steve, is if you start to feel a bit tired you could always pierce the bottom of it 😆 😆

The “botty hating me” thing is what keeps me in the saddle mate. In my experience you take time off at your own and your bottoms risk.
Too much time off and your going to suffer on your return. 😆

Fantastic, well spotted.

Hm, good point – However, as I don’t do jumps, I’ll re-angle it so that it’s more horizontal! 😆

I also carry a smal first aid kit, nothing too big, just a few steriwipes, couple of plasters, some dressing and a couple of buterfly plasters.
Learned the hard way to do this when I cut my leg quite deeply and could not get the bleeding to stop. Had to cycle 2-3 hours home with quite a lot of blood loss, since I was trail riding.
They sell some good small kits online for less that you would spend on a pie and and pint.

+1 on the comfy padded shorts.
Dont worry, you can always wear them under other shorts / trousers if like me you look a bit like Les Dawson doing an impression of Rudolf Nureyev in Lycra 😳 😉

Anyone tried one of these?
Looks like a useful combination!
