Guard to cover main gears.
-
Hi Guys,
Just bought my first proper mountain bike but realised that there is no cover / guard over the main gears where the pedals are at. I’m pretty sure the cheapie bike I bought a few years ago had one but I can’t for the life of me find what I need on google. Can you buy these seperately or are they specific to your bike?
If not, I would be very appreciative if someone could point me in the right direction.
Cheers.

they ae mainly there to stop your trousers getting oil on them off the chain. I wouldn’t bother with one, they dont rally protect anything on the bike.

If I wear longs an my Shogun XC300 it eats my trousers, sussed it out on the Barracuda took the large ring off and fitted an e thirteen bash ring (I never use the big ring anyway)

Thanks for the advice, getting my trousers caught was my only worry as I will use the bike to get to work on dry days. So other than buying one of those larger gears, I take it there is no cover that you can just slot over your existing gear?

There are some trouser protector rings available but you would need to know the distance apart any holes are in your outer ring, much as I dont usually say this try Halfords as they are standard on some cheeper bikes.

can’t you just tuck your trousers into your socks?
Wouldn’t that automatically turn him into a “Chav”. 😆 😆
Bicycle clips, 99p in Tesco. 😕
