Has anyone else had a Manitou Nixon Elite Fork Fail
-
I have a 2005 orange 5 fitted with manitou nixon elite forks (bolt through axles), and when taking the wheel out this weekend I noticed that one of the drop outs had sheared. Effectively, the part of the drop out where the two allen bolts pass through has sheared off, so that the through axle was no longer being clamped in place.
See attached photo for an illustration of my explanation.
To me this would appear to be either a design or manufacturing defect, and I was wondering whether anyone else has suffered the same fate, and if so whether you managed to get anything out of Manitou?
Thanks.
Dave.

Probably been tightened up too much.
I would tend to agree, the cop out by the manafacturer would be that guideline torque settings have not been applied, and to be honest, when working on our bikes how many of us do use a torque wrench, unless it’s carbon…… 😳 😳
