Im looking for some brakes for my new build orange P& and have come across a great deal on Hayes Strokers but only in the 8inch size. I know these are designed for DH but will my XC P7 really suffer if i go for the 8 inchers?

You need to ensure that the forks are warrantied to that size rotor.
The rear of the frame is very unlikely to accept rotors at that size.
If you want budget brakes have you looked at Shimano Deore or LX or Magura Julies?

Im sure the front folks will be ok as its a Rockshox Pike
