    Just saying hello.

Hugo pointed me in the direction of mtbe.co.uk whilst chatting on another forum.

So thought i would dive in and introduce myself ….hopefully get out for some rides in the near future.

Just completed my first sportive last weekend and have signed up for the Northern Rock 104 mile. So need to start getting some training in.

Live in Yarm with my wife and two small kids …this makes training a bit more difficult!!

Anyway….hope to meet some of you out on a ride fairly soon.

    Cheers

    Jason 😆

    Hi Jason,

Welcome. It takes a lot of effort to get out in this weather so good luck. I’m hoping to get back into it properly over the coming months (had a few lazy weeks), so hopefully see you out there. 🙂

Which Sportive was it you did? I did my first one last month – Colomba Classic. Good fun despite the weather.

    Hi Shinsplint

    Good to hear from you.

…..”a few lazy weeks?” now that sounds familiar. This weather is enough to have anyone spending sunday morning eating fried breakfast and watching re-runs of ‘Monkey’ instead of dragging yourself up steep hills.

I did the Cumbrian Christmas Cracker. Started in grassmere went to Cartmell and back again. 65 mile

Im from cumbria originally so it was familiar territory, the weather played ball as well so it was a good day.

Welcome to The Forum, Jason. 😀

As you can probably see, we are very active both in organising road and MTB rides.

Come the lighter nights, we’re also keen to get out on an evening, as well as weekends.

Living in Yarm, you’re ideally suited to joining us, as our rides, particularly the evening ones, tend to start and finish from Yarm station, and our current Sunday runs start from the Fox Covert at Leven Bank.

    😉

Thats what i call a warm welcome ….cheers lads!

Looking forward to getting out with you all.

Thanks Hugo, looks like this site might be just what i need to keep the winter poundage off.

Unfortunatley i cant make it out this sunday as i have someone coming round to sort out the boiler which has just conked out yet again. But hopefully i will see you soon.

The NR Cyclone seems like such a long way off but thats the usual kind of thinking that trips me up….it certainly did on the last 5 mile of the christmas cracker.

You may be glad that you can’t make it out, temperatures seem forecast to be rock bottom, it shall certainly be interesting descending from Clay Bank if we do get out…….. 😆 😆 😆

cheers harry …..by the way ive just seen your Ridley on another thread….very tasty …nice wheelset.

The Ridley is very nice but I have much nicer bikes and probasbly much nicer wheels

😆 Can’t think which wheels I had on it or which thread.

Clay bank is my arch enemy ….every time i fight him he seems to get the better of me …..!!! 🙄 While I wouldn’t argue that fitness is a big factor to getting up Clay Bank it’s actually one of those banks that requires a strategy. I used to struggle on it because I didn’t treat the bottom bit with enough respect.

I once won a house riding up Clay Bank very quickly. 😆

it sounds like im going to be in good company on this northern rock ride …..mind you with the amount of people either having never done a sportive or only done one (like myself) they are going to need a fleet of ambulances standing by at the finish line. 😆

Harry – you once won a house riding up clay bank…? now that is a story id like to hear sometime. The only thing ive ever won going up clay bank is a reduction on my life span.

Think you might have had some cosmic carbones on the ridley ….yellow decalls?
