Okey, So I’ve managed to loose quite a bit of weight recently. I was never fat, but I knew I was bigger than I’ve ever been. Close to 180lbs (I’m 5’7″)
For the past few weeks I’ve been going to the gym. . . 3 times a week for an hour. I’ve also been out on my bike more, regardless of weather. Really noticed a change in my fitness. I’m now down to 165 lbs (over about 6 weeks since starting). I aim to get to around 160 and stick to that, anything lower is a bonus.
I have a therapist who helps me with social situations too, who suggested a bike riding group to join, which I do on Mondays. We just sort of ride along flat routes. Now I get that everyone on the group isn’t a keen cyclist, most of them even borrow bikes from the council. . . But ofcourse for people like us, riding along at 10 mph just isn’t do-able, so maybe the act of socialising with them isn’t going so well as I have a tendancy to just scout ahead and wait for them at where ever the day’s destination is.
Anyway apart from that, gym is quite enjoyable. I have a training plan which helps keeps me motivating and been upping the intensity gradually.
Ofcourse the drawbacks of a training plan is, say you have 3×12 reps, then you may not feel the urge to do more than that. . . but I’m not really building for size, as previously mentioned trying to lose weight.
I’ve also sorted out my diet, and drinking a lot more water.
I guess what I’m just trying to say is, if anyone wants to lose weight, it’s possible, you just gotta find a plan that works for you and stick to it. Eating less is not always the best case. I’ve found a balance between eating enough not to feel hungry but never eating to the point where I’m completely full, and that works good for me.
Anyway, just thought I’d share this with ya’ll as I’m not really the type to write about it on social media. (Ain’t nobody got time for dat)
In terms of diet. I have sort of just have albran in the morning, and an apple, black coffee. . . then for lunch maybe scrambled egg, chicken and some spinnich. . . . then for tea steak panini or something.
I also have a cheat meal Sunday night. I feel Sunday is a good day to have it as Monday’s are the next week so start fresh

Very well done, good to see you are getting positive results from your plan and good to see you are sticking to it.
The positive benefits from losing even a little weight can be amazing. 😀

Haha, I do ride around everywhere on the HT on the 11 cog now (bar really steep stuff), so I consider it almost single speed. . . Earlier today cycling on Fabian way I noticed a guy just come infront of me and we were going down an incline, he was freecoasting and I was pedalling. in the highest gear not flat out just enough to feel the tension, and still keeping the same distance between him.
This has made my mind up now about switching my tyres out (He had skinnys on). I’ve been on the fence about it for the longest time, but yeah, it’ll be happening within the next 2 weeks. Something a lot more road friendly.

The Schwalbe ones Magnus fitted looked nice.
I must say though, the Halo Twin Rain II – I have in the single speed are superb for tarmac. They are so quiet and the rolling resistance is very minimal – and for £18 each – why not
The max pressure is 85psi for road according to the sidewall 😯 but there’s no way I an running them at that pressure and prefer 65psi
