I remember yesterday…………….
-
Chatting with Ralf the other night as we did laps on the Tuesday evening circuit we touched on some forgotten names of the local cycling retail world and it brought back some memories of halcyon days and mispent youth.
Anyone got any memories, or names they’d like to share?
I’ll start.
Ken Stubbs shop, tiny wasn’t it, on St. Barnabas Road in Linthorpe Village in the Boro.
Colin Armstrongs on Princes Road, further down into the town, used to be the only place in the area you could get Marin Bikes until Bikescene started to do them. Used to have loads of frames hanging about all over the shop.
Cykik on Wilson Street in the town. Started off small doing Gary Fisher then moved over the road into what used to be Monroes Butchers and added KHS and more to their catalogue. They had a very good MTB race team who all rode KHS bikes supplied by the shop. The owner also started the Eston Ski Slope which turned into a massive white elephant. 😕 😕

Bobby’s Cycles 😆

Wasn’t there “The Complete Cyclist” at the very top of Stockton High Street, way up past Debenhams.
Can’t remember what sort of brands they sold……… 😕 😕
Purely road orientated if I remember correctly. 😕
