I got this message from Crispy over at MTBNE yesterday:

Hi Matt, we may be heading down your way on the 25th for this months ERFD. Can you suggest any decent routes? About 15-20 miles, with as much downhill fun as possible.

Anyone got any thoughts on routes and how available are you all for that date?

Crispy’s blog on the subject is here

How about over to Baysdale Abbey from the visitors centre, via Capt Cooks & Kildale? Not sure on mileage, may be a bit far.

I’m off 25th so should be able to make it.

Start at pichinthorpe… round past home farm then down the railway line through guis to slapewath, turn right and climb up past park farm on to the cleveland way… follow along to highcliffe down sleddale back round the horseshoe… down to gribdale… up to captain cooks… down to kildale cafe… back up and along the bridleway to red run and down to dykes lane… up past aireyholme farm and down through the woods via shadows if its still rideable.

just banged the route into memory map and if you hike up the back of roseberry after aireholme and do secret path and the nice downhill from the bottom of highcliffe it works out at 20.3 miles

    oh and hello again

Cheers for that guys, looking forward to the ride.

Filthy, could you PM me the .mmo file you did for the route.

Also, if you are stuck for a bike, I can stick my HT in the car as well and you can use that…
