im not in the area so cant vote but to be honest, the internet for me, although i do like a good look around the shops to see the bikes in the flesh, and the banter of course

Not sure about the other shops but I have used bikescene for years… What they dont know isn’t worth knowin! The staff are friendly and always realy helpful, maybe thats why visa is so hudge….

Ohh I am going tomorrow but I think the visa will stay at home….

Surprised to hear i’ve heard of the top two in a possitive way, presumabably on BR and other places…

think i know who from actually, guy i know used to live in your neck of the woods, had astrong sense of bike shop loyalty and didn’t usually buy online…

A good LBS is priceless though i’ve found recently after issues with my meta, even if not that local, (mines 15 miles away – in fact its the furthest local shop i know of tbh) 😀

Yes they are a very good bike shop. I use them all the time.

I have noticed lots of nice bike bits on sale on ebay have questions from European ebayers asking if the seller will deliver to mainland Europe.

As the Euro has gained 25% against the £, our prices must look like a bargin to them 😕

problem is that as most international companies buy their bits from around the world in US Dollars, as this has also risen in value against the £ by a similar amount, it might mean the price of new bikes will rise once the current stocks have gone 🙁

My stuff is mostly from J D Whisker of Goffs Oak. Just found a shop in High Wycombe where the manager remembers me from my time trial days. 😛

I would advocate that we all try to use our local bike shops during the comming year as the “R” word will mean that they will have a decreace in the leasure market to contend with and they will have to be ultra competitive against the big chains, meaning lower margins and lower profits making it hard for the marginal ones to continue.

It could be a case of use it or loose it and we will be left with buying on line or Halfrauds 🙁

i allways have big chats when down my local bike shop with the owners, workers.

and bike shops make very very low profits

something like energy gells they almost allways loose mony on, and it is more of a service than any thing 😉
