‘Now & Then’

Hi all,
Looked on the forum last week for the first time in ages and it started me thinking – how our bikes change over the time we own them due to changes in how/what we ride and trends or any upgrades we have done.
I thought it might be interesting to start a thread…showing this,,,a picture of your bike when you first got it and how it is now with all the changes.
My bikes spec. when new is well documented in my thread from a couple of year back,,,link below, so since then, it’s main changes are…..
Charge spoon seat (comfy!)
Uberbike half waffle grips (Pink lol)
Hope stainless BB
front tyre is now a Maxxis high roller 2
rear is a hans dampf pace star (liking this combo!)
Running tubeless now
XT 11-36 cassette with 16T added and uberbike 40T expander
hope jockey wheels
XT clutch mech
XT 10 speed shifter
Uberbike 32T narrow wide chainring
KMC Ti gold chain
Shimano M530 pedals
I keep thinking about adding a pike, but tbh theres nothing wrong with the fox 32 on it!

Mine has become almost unrecognisable from when I bought it around 4 or 5 years back. Couldn’t find a pic from when I got it but it was pretty much standard :
As time has gone by, the only parts I haven’t upgraded / replaced are the frame, rear shock and front wheel.
Spent a fortune but still love the bike as much as I did day one.
Upgrades include:
Reba – as the fox’s died from stanchion wear. Actually the second pair of read on this bike as I temporarily had a white set until I could find a deal on a set that would match the frame
Xt brakes/1 x10 gears
Superstar expander and narrow wide ring
Shorter stem and wider bars
Charge spoon and reverb – best upgrade I have ever made
Mavic cross ride rear wheel – I wrote off two of the original dt Swiss wheels and I have a set of the mavic spare so am making use of that now. Seems better than the original so far anyway.
And not to forget small bits of being here and there like rotors stem spacers, got some c clips on order in red aswell and I don’t care how tacky it may be!

First pics was the day I first built it – mostly donor parts from my previous bike.
Upgrades since
Square taper 3×8 Speed Alvio setup changed to Hollow-tech II Deore/SLX 3×10 speed combo.
Avid BB7 Mech brakes replaced with Elixir 1 (rotors retained).
2 sets of wheels since – one set of Mavic Crossmax (back rim cracked very bad) recently replaced with XC-717 on Hope Pro 4 hubs (blue) pictured
Kore finishing kit – replacing saddle, seat-post, tiny bars and stem. Newer Kore stem since fitted (not pictured) 10mm longer and blue face plate.
Numerous other cosmetic changes made to look pretty

Puncture resistant tires .. weight a ton, but they grip amazingly, roll well, last well, and I haven’t had a single puncture since fitting 😀
