    Help required please!!

I was browsing on my Android mobile phone, and I was redirected to a dodgy porn site. My phone flashed up that a Trojan was infecting the phone and I needed to download an antivirus program. It said I had to click a button within 3 minutes or something.

Does this sound like a virus in itself? There was no security company stated in the message. I didn’t click on it.

It made me think that maybe I should get some mobile security, but the likes of Norton and Avast all want permission to edit or delete my sd card, have access to my txts and other things I don’t like the sound of.

    Any ideas or advice?

Ignore it. Android systems are very unlikely to be infected by a virus or similar.

    Search porn in peace. 😉

I wouldn’t mind but it was my local church’s website that redirected me. 😛

    Thanks mate

    Ta!

Tbf, it’s the first time it’s happened in the 2 years I’ve been using Android.

DO NOT click the button!!!!! It will download (or try to) some shite to your phone and it’ll end up with Android Aids in its Ass or something.

Kaspersky is great, only about £15 too (or was when I bought it for my Android) and has a bunch of great feature too above being a great antivirus.

Get a reputable antivirus installed and do a full scan of you device. If it asks for loats of access/privileges when installing then dont be too alarmed, its normal.

I’ve been reading up on them, and people have said they’ve had their sd cards wiped.

And as for leaving my phone accessible to them (txts, mms, email etc)…..All sounds a bit dodgy.

Is this yet another way of Big Brother keeping tabs on people? I know if you type certain words that could be connected to illegal activity (not saying I do) you’ll be monitored to keep tabs on what you’re up to.

True, though sometimes odd & serious sounding privileges are required for simple features. I binned the facebook app recently as it keeps asking for more and more access to my phone with every update, screw Zukerbergski, though its easy to get paranoid reading a list of things an app wants access to right before installing it!

Experience and judgement. As long as you make the right choices when installing you should be alright, there are malicious apps out there, but there are many times as many genuine ones.

Worth a read for the paranoid android:

FWIW – ‘ve been using Kaspersky Android since it was released with no issues, I trust it over one of the free anti virus apps, then some folks prefer SRAM over Shimano … etc.

Nice one, I’ll have a read of that. Must admit, I am a bit of a technophobe. Other than general browsing and forums, I haven’t really got a clue.

It’s not that at all. You are a closet perv and you’ve subscribed to one too many porn sites and they’ve taken over your mobile 😆 😆 😆

I’m not a closet perv Nick. I’m very open and honest about my addiction. 😆 😆

Haha ‘directed to a porn site’!

Best one I read was on a shooting forum where a member wanted to treat his mrs for her birthday and the lads gave him a few ideas.

He went and googled ‘facial’. He was back on the forum soon after asking how to delete the browser history on his dads pc
