Replacement deralier
-
HI,
I’ve just inherited an old Raleigh MTB with a Shimano Acera-x RD M291 derailer that needs replacing (threads have gone where cable attaches). Can anyone tell me what I need as a modern equivalent replacement? I’m assuming you can no longer get this model as the bike must be about 15 years old.
Thanks,
James.

not sure tbh, I am sure someone will be along to answer your question though!
Which bike is it?

It’s a 21 speed Raleigh Kandara.

I’m pretty sure that if you go into Halfords, they will have a SIS one for about £10, roughly, that will do the job.
failing that, your local Raleigh shop should get you something compatible for a very cheap price.

Thanks for the replies. I need a new gear cable as well; are they standard or do I need a specific thickness/type?
