    Hi all

I’m just wondering if my post is far enough in the frame?

I’ve been struggling with a squeak for a while so I’ve stripped the whole bike down to nuts n bolts cleaned and regreased EVERYTHING.

Think I’ve located the problem at the seat runners.

But while apart it got me thinking as my post is up quite high is it/could it be causing stress on my frame???

Pic shows 8.5cm of the post in the frame marked with tape

    Thanks in advance

    Rich

They normally have a min insertion line on them?

Without that I would go past the join where the top tube meets the frame seat tube.

There is no line sadly she’s second hand

Might be. Good enough excuse to get a dropper? That would work on the wife surely?

From the first picture it looks like it might of been chopped down at some point, so the min line might of been cut off.

Droppers are one thing but seatposts dont cost a lot of money, when it comes to that sort of stuff I usually by cannondale OEM as they are very good quality, light weight and reasonably priced. Their stems in particular are as light as £100 stems but cost £20 and backed by cannondale testing standards.

It’s not been cut it has remnants of white grease to stop seizure pic was pre clean might just get a longer stem just in case

    Dropper at a later date

    Cheers for the help
