I have noticed on a few “other places” in the past, discussion regarding the “acceptability” of turning up to a Sportive without paying/registering and completing the ride, taking advantage of the route markings, safety provisions, camaraderie, etc., etc.

What do you think of it, have you ever witnessed it, would you challenge a rider you thought was doing it?

I think it’s pretty bad form. Never seen it though and I’ve done about a dozen

I agree with Harry, it’s just bad form. I haven’t been aware of anyone doing this on the ones I have ridden.

I must say that I think it’s terribly bad form for anybody to try such a thing, particularly as I feel that the Event that I did (Richmond) and others I have read about, seem relatively inexpensive.

Especially when you consider not only what is provided by the group “hosting” the Event, but also the average price of the machines that you will probably see being ridden round the course.

It is certainly something I’d frown upon.
