    We did this route tonight:

    http://www.bikehike.co.uk/mapview.php?id=7736

As you can see, it’s 30 mile in length, and we seemed to cover it tonight at warp speed tonight.

Myself, Greg, Grant, Colin, Harry and Hugo turned out for this ride, and it seemed to promise to be a lovely evening, however there was a stiff breeze blowing, but once we got under way we soon forgot about that. 😆 😆

Leaving Yarm station we headed along the B1264 and were soon turning off for Girsby, some lovely road along here and we were certainly covering it at speed.

This was a young mans ride and Harry at 53 was up front and pushing it 😯 😯

In no time at all we were speeding through Croft and onto the Northallerton Road where we fell into single file and really put the hammer down, blazing along this section of road. As we neared Gt. Smeaton, as Harry, Hugo and Greg came through to take the lead I noticed Grant and Colin had fallen off the back by quite a margin and I slowed to let them catch up.

We then picked up the pace again to catch Greg, Harry and Hugo not far from Appleton Wiske.

Back as one group we maintained our stiff pace, with everybody riding well tonight.

Colin who had fallen off the back earlier was now having no trouble keeping up and was even chatting with Harry.

Grant, who had a really bad ride on Saturday at Richmond was now flying round, and at the front of the group really working hard.

And Greg is still going from strength to strength, having no problems keeping the pace up tonight.

Hugo is just increasing his road speed and climbing pace all the time.

    And Harry was just showing off…………. 😆 😆 😆

Don’t know what our average speed was tonight, but we were soon back at Yarm and by the time I got home I had 41 mile under my belt and 2 hours 11 minutes on the clock.

Work that out for an average………… 😕 😕

Great ride, thanks everybody. 😀 😀

Good ride again tonight guys, really enjoyed it. Bloody hard work at times, especially as we sped down the A167 towards Great Smeaton but I was determined not to let the elastic snap.

I had never ridden over that way before so it was nice to find some new lanes.

I had 37.86 miles on the clock in 2 hrs 7 mins for an average of 17.8 mph.

Hugo, I beleive there’s a right turn at Neasham or Hurworth or somewhere there a bouts that can be taken that can bring us back via a route through Middleton One Row, we shall have to investigate. 😉

Was thinking that those roads might make some good winter training routes for the fixed (cunning training plan #1 – ride fixed during the winter).

Superb ride once again, biggest group i’ve cycled in 🙂

Think we all put a good effort in tonight. Thanks guys for sorting this nice route out.

I learned from my mistake last time, and got plenty of food an water into me throughout the day, which helped me a lot. Was busting for a pi55 all the way round though 😆

Look forward to next time chaps 🙂

    Good ride Guys,

The weather apart from the wind on the way out was fantastic 8)

and it was great to ride in shorts for once without feeling freezing.

I literally “Bonked” along that big open stretch by Croft, I seemed to be stuck in no-mans-land between Gunner, Steve and Greg at the front and then Harry and Grant behind me, try as I might I couldn’t catch onto the lead group so I gave up, and then Harry and Grant passed me!! 🙄

I nearly sh*t myself when I almost ran into the back of the group going down that small country lane, wrecked the tyre ( see seperate post ) but it was a better option than taking the rest of you down like skittles 😯 😯 😯

    45 miles in 2hrs 34 mins, ave 18.1 mph

Waiting for an new tub to arrive now, so I’ve put the Shamal’s back on for a while.

P.S. a little Bird tells me that you have got some Bora’s sorted out Harry, couldn’t resist them eh? 😆 😆

    Till next week,

    Colin

Sprry Colin but it’s a triple whammy.

    1. You won’t believe how much I paid for them.

    2. They’ll be going on the world’s blingest bike.

    3. They’ll be going fast

    😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆

I’ve also bought some other wheels but that’s a secret.

And all because that bloke wouldn’t take £700 for his Pinarello Paris frame

    Good on yer Harry,

They will look the biz on the Prince 8)

Its against the law to put anything other than Campagnolo gear on an Italian bike 😆 😆

Not surprised he wouldn’t take £700 for his Paris frame, that’s bordering on theft!! 😀

    Colin

Good God I hope not. Mavic did a complete product recall of those a while ago after loads of people had collapsed wheels

I’d have gone a bit higher if he’d bothered to get back to me.

Hmm…the only reason I said Mavics was that I was up Westbrooks today and I saw Jason unpacking some new R-SYS.

Heard about the recall on the carbon spokes snapping, sounds really dodgy 😯

You must be getting on for 4K out of pocket with all this bling your buying Harry 😆 😆

Ah, the new R-SYS. Interesting. Very interesting.

If only. Once the Prince is blinged up it will be over £7k on that bugger alone.

I’m putting some new wheels on the Noah.

Then I’ll have to put an 11-speed cassette on the Reynolds Assaults so I can use them on the Prince.

And I have an interesting little project lined up to use the Chorus gruppo and the Mavic Kysyrium Anniversary Edition wheels off the Noah.

    Jesus, I’ve confused myself now.

I also want a fixie for winter

It’s already some bike but I know what you mean. By the end of next week it will be as good as it’s possible to get. I might frame it and put it on the wall. Too good for an old knacker like me to be riding
