    Guidance please

Thinking of getting a home trainer and not sure rollers or turbo.

The key point is they will also be used by my 9 year old daughter as well as by me. Have found a turbo that will fit her 24″ wheels but not sure whether rollers with a stand would be better. On a budget so would be bottom end items. She has had quite a few goes on rollers albeit it parabolic ones and I don,t think I can afford the parabolic ones will just be std ones.

Wiggle have some taxc ones and a local shop have offered me some minouri both at £120.00 for std rollers and or some parabolic ones at £145 ( too much ) , or turbo by Elite at £99.00 ( shop is 95% certain they will suit the 24″ wheels but will confirm before I bought)

    Which way to go ?

My daughter will use this for fun occasionally, or when its too cold/icy to go out, I am not putting a nine year old on a strict training program!!!!!

I’d go for a Turbo over rollers.

Much easier to use, variable resitance, easier to store, and safer in my opinion 😳

I also think turbo trainers are a safer and much more suitable for a child. From what I understand the best option might be a Minoura RDA 80 Rim drive as this def will accommodate 24″ wheels. http://www.noahsark.co.uk/bike-accessories-turbo-trainers-c-145_6_220.html

Yeah, looks a good one, like you say, you are resticted because of the 24″ requirement otherwise you can pick them up a lot cheaper.

In the early 1980s, we used to live in a flat and our neighbour used to allow me to use a set of rollers in her back yard. It was always a bit scary when her dog used to sniff near the front wheel!
