I have LX brake levers, which are fine and XT calipers, which are worn out. Rivets are loose and they rattle like two skeletons shagging in a dustbin! 😳

I’m tempted to buy a set of LX calipers to match, unless anyone can recommend something a bit better …… ❓

The prices look ok here http://www.woollyhatshop.com/category.php?id=42 OR http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Categories.aspx?CategoryID=561 Both have some good prices but if it was me spending, I would find the best deal I could on some Deore V’s and cartage type pads. I have XT ( 99 ) V brakes on my hardtail and they have always been noisy but the deore V brakes I had were Quite and with good levers ( Avid speed dial ) almost as good 😯 Hope this helps 😕

Ps the Avid V brakes are as good if not better than the Deore.

Why don’t you just get a Set of XT Calipers again ? , or is it the money factor.

They are hellishly noisy mind Vern. (Thread hijack mode) What were you on about frames this morning? Something about not wanting disc mounts? Sorry I was only half listening, …as ever 😳

Cable operated if you dont want to cange the levers too…

You will need disc ready hubs though

    Thanks Experts

John, money’s not a problem. It’s just that I have LX Deore levers, shifters and mechs and XT probably don’t work and better. I’m not a badge-seeker, TBH.

No disc hubs, I’m afraid, so V-brakes only. 8)

I was saying I would like a smaller frame for my hardtail, With out disc mounts as every thing for it is V brake only.

Cheers John. The XT ones were OK-ish, but the rivets were just worn and despite my covering them in grease and stuff, they did rattle. Came with the bike, so I don’t really know hold old they are. 😕

Hopefully the new ones will keep a bit quieter for a while. 😛
