It makes me laugh when I see people with back packs bursting at the seams riding bikes, better off getting a taxi!

Got my camelbak on my lap as I type this, so as I rummage will put what I find!!

    Pump

    Shock pump

    Spare tube

    leeches

    latex gloves (oo-er!! lol)

    Adjustable spanner

    Pliers

    Tyre levers

    Allen Key tool

    Chain Splitter

Two screwdrivers (one flat, one pozidrive)

    Aldi lights

    Energy Bar

    Energy Gel

    High5 Zero tablets

    Endura Pakajacket

Then for every ride 2 litres of water with a couple of high5’s in, a banana and two nutrigrains. And of course phone, wallet and car keys!!

God that sounds overkill!! Daren’t take any of it out of there though for fear of needing it one day!

Off the top of my head:

    Ordnance Survey Map

    First Aid Kit

    Mini Pump

    Spare Tube

    Tyre Levers

    Glueless Patch Kit

    Multi Tool

    T25 Tool

    Couple of zip ties

    Chain Tool

    Spare Gear Cable

    Quick Link

2p Coin (perfect HollowTech 2 tool)

    Mobile Phone

2 Litre Hydration Bladder (only just got this, what an improvement!)

Couple of Flapjacks / Trail Bars / Bananas / Chocolate Bars (depending on what i have at home, usually chocolates or bananas)

All that is in the pack pretty much every ride… The tools are all in a saddle bag but i keep it in my pack as it just rattles around if its on the bike. It keeps them all together tho which is handy. Then if im going out all day, or in unpredictable weather

    Waterproof Jacket

    Small Chain Lock

    Money

    Lights

If im on my Fixed Gear, i have another Saddle bag which i swap over. This has 700c Tube instead, a mini adjustable spanner (most fixings are bolts , not allen key as its retro) small allen key set and a 15mm spanner for wheels

    Thats just about it

Bare minimum, you obviously also need some sort of pump and TBH, also a spare tube and a tyre boot.

Patch kits are OK for most flattenings but sometimes you actually need a replacement tube, like if a valve leaks or you get a giant gash in it that a patch can’t do.

A tyre boot will fix a hole in the tyre wall if you’re unlucky and blow it out. In such a case, no matter how many tubes or patches you have, when you pump it up, the tyre will poke through and explode as you inflate it.

    In my Osprey I carry:

    Water

    Haribos

    Bike Multi Tool

Survival Multi Tool (weighs nothing and can be quite handy)

    Chain Links

    Powerlinks

Glueless Patch Kit (pretty much pointless as running tubeless but I think you can stick it on the inside of your tyre if you do get a puncture? Can anybody clear me up on that?)

    Tyre Boot

    Tyre Levers

    Bog roll

    Pump

    Inner Tube

    Zip Ties

    First Aid Kit

    Survival Blanket

    Waterproof

    Phone

    Money

All this in a small 6 litre pack, sounds a lot but doesn’t weigh too much and take up too much room. 😀

Water (how much depends on how long I’m out)

    Multi tool

Leeches (to be used if it’s raining)

Puncture repair kit (to be used when it’s dry)

    First aid kit (small)

    Tube

    Pump

    9 bars and some jelly

    Tyre levers

More than likely left out something but that’s about it.
