Wobbly Chainring Help!
-
Hi all,
Sorry, I’ve just joined to ask for a bit of help! I’ve got a 2003 Specialized Stumpjumper M4, with Strongarm cranks. I was getting a bit of a click on power, which I guessed could have been a bit of a loose BB. When investigating, I’ve found that my chainrings are a bit on the loose side and I’ve no idea how to fix them.
The cranks themselves are fine, nice and tight, and there *might* be a teeny tiny bit of movement in the BB but not so much you can tell, there’s just that giveaway “click” under power sometimes. However, if I grab the chainrings, there’s a good 3-4mm of lateral wobble in them. The chainring bolts are all beautifully tight, and the crank arms are locked on with no movement at all, so I’m a bit confused as to what could be causing this wobble?
Any hints?

did you take a bashguard off? maybe the chainring bolts are tight but too long?? otherwise i havent got a clue… maybe snapped chainring mounts or the chainring bolts are too small for the crank.. lol as you can probarbly guess, im just firing random answers out, but all valid ones me thinks 😀
